5 Things That Often Ruin Your Stay at an Airbnb
1. Confusing, Broken, or Unsafe Apartment Entry
Too many locks, codes, key boxes, and instructions—and some of them don’t even work properly. You arrive late at night after a long journey, only to discover that you can’t get inside because a lock is jammed or a code doesn’t work. Now you’re stuck outside, waiting for the host to reply.
Beyond the inconvenience, poorly managed access systems can also raise safety concerns. Traditional keys may have been copied over the years, access codes are not always changed between guests, and lockboxes can sometimes be left exposed or unsecured. As a guest, you should never have to wonder who else might still have access to the property. A good Airbnb entry system should be simple, reliable, and designed with both convenience and security in mind.
2. A Clogged Shower Drain
You’ve spent the whole day travelling, walking, or exploring the city, and all you want is a refreshing shower. But just as you start relaxing, you realize the drain is clogged. Water begins to collect around your feet, and suddenly your relaxing shower becomes anything but pleasant.
3. An Uncomfortable or Too-Small Bed
You booked an apartment with a double bed, expecting a good night’s sleep. Instead, the bed feels too small for two people, the mattress is uncomfortable, or the pillows leave you tossing and turning all night. A poor night’s sleep can affect your entire trip.
4. No Backup for Power Outages, Wi-Fi Failures, or Emergencies
The electricity goes out and you’re suddenly sitting in the dark with no flashlight, no emergency lighting, and no information. The Wi-Fi stops working, the smart lock becomes unreliable, and you have no way to stream, work, or even access some of the apartment’s smart features. Small technical issues can quickly become major frustrations when there is no backup plan.
5. Plenty of Property Managers, Yet No One Answers
The listing promises multiple contacts in case you need assistance. But when something actually goes wrong, nobody responds. You send messages, make calls, and wait for hours, wondering if anyone is available to help. Having support on paper is very different from having support when you need it most.
At Artsy Homes, we are aware of these common frustrations because we have experienced many of them ourselves during our travels. As guests, we learned what can turn an otherwise wonderful trip into a stressful experience.
That’s why, when creating our apartments, we made these details a priority. We keep entry simple and reliable, regularly check and maintain everything from drains to Wi-Fi, invest in comfortable beds, provide backups for unexpected situations, and most importantly, make sure there is always a real person available when you need help.
Our goal is simple: to offer the kind of stay that we ourselves would be happy to book.
